In the United States, tornadoes and storms struck during the three-day holiday leading up to Memorial Day, killing at least 21 people.
Additional damage is a concern as tornadoes continue to form in the warm, humid air.

“Oh no. We lost the roof and the windows. We don’t know what the walls or the inside of the house are like, so we have to take a look.”
Casualties continue to increase.
In addition to 7 deaths in Texas, 8 in Arkansas, and 2 in Oklahoma, 4 people died in Kentucky, bringing the total to 21 during the holiday season alone.
In addition, power facilities were damaged, cutting off electricity supply to over 600,000 households in the eastern United States.

“Now that we have started recovery, reconstruction work will follow. It will not be a short process.”
The National Weather Service warned that the storm could move east and impact Washington, D.C., and New York.
In the south-central region of the United States, the number of tornadoes has increased significantly since last month, and as warm and humid air continues inland, tornadoes are forming one after another.

“So far we believe there have been at least a few tornadoes, including one known to be at least 40 miles away.”
Meteorologists analyzed that the hot and humid air in particular is creating a huge hemispherical heat dome, raising temperatures in May like mid-summer.
The National Weather Service indicates the heat that the human body actually feels as a heat index, and today's heat index in some areas of southern Texas was forecast to be 49 degrees Celsius.
