Google recently announced that it had changed its policy on its website to prevent users from posting advertisements using deepfake technology, such as changing an individual's image or creating a new image.
Google explained, "We take violations related to deepfakes seriously," and added, "If a policy violation is discovered, your Google Ad account will be suspended immediately and you will never be able to run ads again."
Google has so far banned sexually exploitative videos and advertisements, but has not banned advertisements for the production of deepfake pornography. However, through this policy change, the scope of sanctions has been expanded by adding a ban on advertising to pornographic content using deepfake technology.
“This update is intended to explicitly ban advertising for services that offer the creation of deepfake pornography or synthetic nude content,” said Google spokesman Michael Aciman. “We will use a combination of human review and automated systems to determine policy violations.” “It is planned,” he added.
Meanwhile, Google previously revealed in its annual ad safety report that it removed more than 1.8 billion ads that violated its policies on sexual content last year.
