Parasites were found to be detected in compost and other materials contained in sewage balloons that North Korea sprayed toward the South in response to anti-North Korea leaflets.
On the 24th, the Ministry of Unification collected and analyzed about 70 waste balloons from Daenam and distributed the data to reporters and made this announcement.
The Ministry of Unification explained, "As a result of analysis by a specialized agency on sewage, a large number of parasites such as roundworms, whipworms, and nematodes were discovered in the soil contained in the sprayed sewage," and that human genes were also found in this soil, suggesting that the parasites came from human waste.
In the waste balloons, there was a lot of 'spraying waste' that appeared to have been made hastily, and waste of daily necessities, showing the hardships of life for North Korean residents, was also identified.
