Two men in their 20s who were accused of buying a used imported car at a low price and then deliberately causing an accident to collect insurance money were handed over to the prosecution.
Pocheon Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 21st that it had arrested and sent two people, including Mr. A, a man in his 20s, on suspicion of violating the Special Act on Prevention of Insurance Fraud.
They are accused of buying an imported car that was about to be scrapped at a low price, signing up for various insurance policies, then intentionally causing an accident at an intersection in Naechon-myeon, Pocheon-si on November 29 last year, and collecting 73 million won in insurance money from Mr. A's car insurance company.
Their crime was caught when the car insurance company of another suspect, Mr. B, who was suspicious that young people of his age had accidents with imported cars during the early morning hours, reported it to the police.
It is known that those who initially denied the crime filed a complaint with the Financial Supervisory Service, claiming that Mr. B's insurance company did not pay the insurance money, and even filed a lawsuit in court for payment of the insurance money.
The police explained that during the cell phone forensics process, they obtained a recording of a call in which they were plotting a crime and an arrest warrant was issued.
